Activities

Activities

These activities can be used as an introduction or follow up to the educational road show Beneath the Ocean Blue. Feel free to modify these activities or create new activities of your own. To either refresh or introduce the characters and concepts in the play you can read the story versions of the play which includes: The Fishermen and the Magic Fish, Monte the Marvelous Monk Seal and his Magnificent Marine Mammal Friends and Tony the Terrific Tiger Shark of Coral Bay. The stories could also be read or dramatized by the students, giving them the opportunity to "perform" their own version of Beneath the Ocean Blue.

Also included are creative drama activities developed from our Imagination Soars! Program. Created by Drama Education Specialist Reiko Ho, these activities address multiple learning in the classroom and builds communication skills. Students are encouraged to use their voice, body and imagination to express themselves in fun drama activities that promote critical thinking and problem solving. Drama activities also allow students to gain confidence and increased self-esteem.
