How you can help the ocean:
- Learn what you can about the ocean and its inhabitants and
share your knowledge.
- Don't litter and pollute and pick up trash from streams and
beaches even if it isn't yours.
- Recycle bottles, aluminum, paper and plastics.
- Be a responsible ocean user. Follow fishing rules and regulations
and only take what you need.
- Honor existing fishing regulations and don't fish in established
marine protected areas.
- Anchor your boat carefully so as not to damage the ocean
or use established mooring buoys.
- Do not leave fishing line or fish hooks unattended or lying
about.
- Be considerate of marine life and their habitats.
- Give animals space and watch them from shore or from a distance.
- Leave infant wildlife alone.
- Prevent pets like cats and dogs from attacking and/or playing
with wildlife.
- Don't feed fish or other marine wildlife. It destroys the
natural feeding habits of these animals.
- Treat the ocean with care. Enjoy the ocean, waterways and
shoreline, but remember that it is a fragile homeland to many
marine plants and animals.
