How you can help the ocean:

  • Learn what you can about the ocean and its inhabitants and share your knowledge.

  • Don't litter and pollute and pick up trash from streams and beaches even if it isn't yours.

  • Recycle bottles, aluminum, paper and plastics.

  • Be a responsible ocean user. Follow fishing rules and regulations and only take what you need.

  • Honor existing fishing regulations and don't fish in established marine protected areas.

  • Anchor your boat carefully so as not to damage the ocean or use established mooring buoys.

  • Do not leave fishing line or fish hooks unattended or lying about.

  • Be considerate of marine life and their habitats.

  • Give animals space and watch them from shore or from a distance.

  • Leave infant wildlife alone.

  • Prevent pets like cats and dogs from attacking and/or playing with wildlife.

  • Don't feed fish or other marine wildlife. It destroys the natural feeding habits of these animals.

  • Treat the ocean with care. Enjoy the ocean, waterways and shoreline, but remember that it is a fragile homeland to many marine plants and animals.
