And
The Water Flows
(From
Under The Hawaiian Sky; sung by all the forest characters)
Music and Lyrics by Roslyn Catracchia
Ev'ry cloudy, misty valley is something like a sponge
Collecting all the water it can find
Ev'ry raindrop is important, and it's gathered carefully
By nature's own watershed design
The branches catch the water in the rain and clouds above
And they send it to the spongy forest floor
Some goes down into the roots, some to the water table below
And some to the streams which lead down to the shore
Chorus:
And the water flows
(and the water flows)
And where does it go?
(where does it go?)
From the forest trees down to the seas and deeper below
It's a giant water cycle, one that has to be preserved
And it all begins in the valleys in the watershed
The watershed reserves
We use water in our gardens and for watering the lawn
And for drinking and for bathing ev'ry day
In fact we depend so much on water from these watershed reserves
That we owe it to each other to conserve
(Repeat Chorus twice)
